At the Kalulushi Trust School in Kalulushi, Zambia, BTNNS General Manager and Zambia Tennis Association General Secretary Mr Joe Siame presented the Arthur Ashe Learning booklets to some students. At hand to receive the materials on behalf of the students was head teacher Mr Thomas Nyirongo, head teacher at the school.
The tennis program at the school attracts about 60 players that attend the school’s extra curricular activity each week. The school has over 800 students. The books are used as part of the off court learning sessions on developing sportsmanship. Some copies are also available in the school library.
The booklet donation given by the legacy center in LA was facilitated by Ability Beyond the Court Inc, a non profit program of the USA that supports various tennis programs in Zambia and CT as part of its “Ashe Project” and helps to distribute the booklets as well as creating awareness for Mr Ashe’s influence in education and tennis.
