About Us
Ability Beyond the Court is a registered 501-(c) 3 registered in the state of Connecticut. Currently we serve various tennis programs in Zambia and USA that range from non profit-clubs programs to local community programs. Our goal is to create and provide program solutions to places that need to develop children’s character, using tennis as one of the vehicles.
We provide tennis equipment to programs whose focus is to enrich the lives of children and become better learners. We provide learning and coaching materials to players, coaches and programs.We also assist other programs with improved ways and unique ways of programming to suit their needs or missions. We also offer workshops and seminars on various topics related to child development in sports.
Our Mission
Ability Beyond the Court, Inc. builds stronger, healthier and more active communities and fosters confidence, focus and inspires a productive lifestyle for children in Zambia and some programs in the USA. We carry out this mission by creating and supporting tennis, educational and mentoring programs by those under-served. Through assisting local tennis associations and encouraging participation in our tutoring and scholarship programs, we strive to help children succeed on and off the tennis court.
The Executive Director
David Dalitso Mwanza has been a tennis professional for the last two decades in the USA and currently resides in Litchfield, CT. David is a certified PTR Tennis Professional, Pickleball and Platform tennis certified. David was born & raised in Zambia and obtained his post high school education in the USA.
David’s tennis experience has influenced other places and uses his services and experience growing tennis participation for different programs that include both public and private communities.
For several years, David has been involved with junior team competitions to introduce competition to hundreds of players to ensure a well planned development to support their mental and emotional tennis support. David is passionate about tennis and grew up at a local club in his hometown Ndola. His desire is to help the learning centers and programs achieve their goals. Currently David also serves as chairman of the Zambia Tennis Association diaspora tennis and development planning committee, assisting with the reorganization of tennis in Zambia.
Our Team
Richard Makepeace
Richard has been with Middlebury Racquet Club since 2001, and has more than 18 years of teaching experience. He is certified by USPTA at Level 1 and by PTR at the professional level. He is an ATP Tournament Qualifier as well as a USTA National High Performance Coach. He regularly competes in the 60 and over National Tournaments.
Pierre Moudourou
Pierre is currently the Head Tennis Professional at Candlewood Lake Club in Brookfield CT, and manages their tennis program to a neighborhood that houses two hundred families. Pierre is a certified tennis and pickleball professional. Pierre coached at Immaculate High School in Danbury CT. He was the Davis Cup and Fed Cup captain of the Cameroon Tennis Team (1997 and 1998) as well as the tennis professional at the Forest-Hill Tennis Academy in Aubervilliers, France, and Tennis & Laurent Tennis Academy in Paris, France.
